hey dragon, Unfortunetly im not very familliar with Byrons poly tools but just to let you know that Maya Bevel Tool has been worked on for Maya 6. you can now create inward bevels, there is a fraction offset that will not let the bevels turn inside out. The best thing is the option to bevel in world space instead of Local. There are few more things done to the bevel tool.

I will check out Byrons tools to see what they do.

well you were able to do it bevore as well, but not as good

AND :

THE "High Qualitiy Rendering" in the viewport - view your bump maps in realtime, better specular lightning, makes in a way the IPR obsolete ...

final gather is a lot faster, the raytracing as well ...

didn´t have the chance to test in detail, but first impression: a lot faster

I found MR to be faster than the default software renderer in most cases. I rarely use the SW renderer now. Once people get away from the notion that MR is only good for FG, Caustics and GI, it'll be used more and more by everyone.

i use mental ray as default ... it is so much better than the normal maya render.

when i first used maya, i could not believe it had no caustics and stuff, and i came from rhino ... not know as a all-in-once 3d package user added image
