Allosaurus

This is my first stab at modeling and rigging a dinosaur. I've been working on it for about a day and would like any advice from people who have experience modeling and rigging dinosaurs. I have modeled and rigged a humanoid character but I imaginge there are some significant differences in the technique.

Here's a pic of the model so far and one showing the topology.

Thanks-

This looks like a good start. Keep it up and show more updates.

I am curious how you work out the details.

Can't give you tips for the rigging, but i think some other users will give you good tips for that. user added image

Wish you good look with that model.

I've started adding definition. I noticed the t-rex in jurassic park had these ridges in the neck-

it could be just me, or the camera view you're using, but it looks like there's too much of him forward of his feet - like he's going to topple forward.

I might be the camera. Here's a side view. Tell me if you think it's still front heavy.

I think, atm he's standing on his toes user added image ... neither u need to move one foot more to the front, so he's in a walking position, nor u've to put both to the front if u want him to stand...

... or make his tail bigger user added image

Thanks for pointing that out. Because Dinosaurs have an extra joint in their leg like lots of animals the animal has to use the ball of its foot for a heel. I tried to give the foot more support.

I'm trying to get the head right but it seems hard to get the right dinosaur look.

Any suggestions?

sure... teeth! user added image

it doesn't look like a dinosaur unless it has teeth, well to me at least... but maybe he just woke up and hasn't put them in yet *shrug*

(other than that, i think it actually looks pretty good, the rest of the detail that you're looking for might be better left to texturing)

Thanks, I guess I'll model teeth soon but I was going to wait till I finished the skin. But yeah, that probally will help a lot.

S3rj_T4nKi4n, Great pic.

I'll try to incorperate it. Also it seems like the head is proportionatly smaller and the neck is longer.
