question on lights

hey guys im pretty new to maya and all. jus tryin sum tuts on the internet and decided to try somtin. but i ran into a problem on the lightin part. ok so here the scene

the object with a blinn, the two planes with lambert attributes.
the plane which is slanted is using final gather rays onto the object. ok now here is the render

my question is when i renderd it, the object is now showing two colours as you can see in the render. it goes from dark blue to light blue . can some1 please tell me what has happend here or is it supposed to be like that and what can be done to fix it.....

I'm not exactly sure what you're saying to be honest... but at a guess, the light blue bit you are describing is a reflection of the plane to the left of the sphere object. If you are talking about the very left side where the blue is more luminant, I think thats just an effect the light has at that angle on that shader.
