The Cartoon Dog tutorial possible to animate?

Ive been starting to work on a model of my own by the tips and help from the free Cartoon dog tutorial but before I continue I want to make sure it is possible to animate the finished model in the end.
I think you convert the polygons to subdivs at the end. Is it still possible to bind skeletons to it and animate?

of course. you could smooth your object instead or convert it back to poly in case you ve got creases.
just in case something occurs...

Yes you can animate any mesh in Maya. Animation only requires a correctly set up rig (skeleton, controls and weights).

If you wanted to you could just animate a sphere or cube.

user added image sometime gotta be the first! *makes loads of spam posts*

Anyway I finished the nurbs model and Im now converting it to polygons. But when I wanna merge the vertices (like the tutorial) I cant without increasing the threshold to 0.3 :/ Will this have impact on my later work with the model? Kinda feels like I did something wrong since its not mentioned in the tutorial.....
