I am actually really confused by this as I see big images in these forums all the time. Will you answer why it is ok for someone to post an image like this HERE and not for me. I am disapointed. user added image

For the record, I only had 2 images, one of which was in my first post, and the other on my second post and both were well under the maximum size allowed, which is 262144 bytes.
Anyway I will repost the images according to the dimensions outlined in the guideline. It is just that I am feeling like being treated like dirt on a site that I've invested near 250 dollars. There is no reason why he just didn't asked me or warned me about the image sizes. It was a bit rude to just pull them off the site.user added image

I like the dog it's got alot more character than some of the dogs posted.

Regarding the image size there's a sticky in the W.I.P that says they will be deleted if they are over 640 x 480. As the images you linked to to say why is he allowed to post big images, that's in the Finished work area where it is more important to post bigger images and his model had a lot of detail unlike the dog.

The rules are the same wether you've spent $250 or $5.

Berk,

You shouldn't feel like you're being treated badly. We've had to do this before...just chalk it up as a "Now I know" experience and crop your shots within the limits. As ckyuk said, the rules about image sizes in this forum are in the sticky at the top and we try to keep on top of what people are posting as much as possible. With regards to the mech render you linked to, ckyuk is also right....that forum is for finished renders, thus sizing is more flexible.

Imagine a person is detailing the creation of his spiffy new creature from cube to completion (which is essentially what this forum was designed for). Now imagine he posts 20 screenshots all at 1024 x 1024 throughout the entire process. Imagine the load time for ppl with slower connections and people with different resolution machines....it blows the forum out and you end up having to scroll all over the place. And it's really not necessary to view WIPs at that res.

Forgive me

I apologize for my reaction. I knew the images were big I just didn't expect to have them disappear suddenly and when they did I was not anywhere near my workstation to post the new renders. But I realize the misunderstanding on my part and I feel sorry that I had to unload my frustration on the forums. To all who have commented on the images, I thank you and hope that I didn't cause much discomfort.
