Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

are my uv's ok or is there a better way?

I'm struggling with uvs on this object, is there a better way to uv objects this shape?

there is a great uv tut on this site done by jay. also, have you tried headus uv layout? makes things really simple...

truthfully I've done quite a few tutorials on them, but just need the practical experience with my own models - i've not played with uvlayout yet but it is going to be covered in a texturing course I'm doing next month, so I'm looking forward to that!
