Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

I just make a gun and try to set a laser on the front of a gun but then:
1) how to make the laser light the one of the shotgun of quake 3
2) how to make the fog, in order to see the laser

Ahhh.. the "RAILGUN" lazer effectuser added image

2 ways:

a. Group a PaintFX "lazer-beam" brushstroke to the tip of your gun, and animate the "min clip and max clip" attributes to make it look like it is firing at your target.

b. use a directional particle emitter with a HIGH rate and high DIRECTIONAL SPEED.
(there is a lazer beam tut in the docs for this, that explains more detail)

...ps, no fog needed in either case.

But they will BOTH work inside an environment fog and/or fluid fog scene as welluser added image

Good luck!

No problem!!

I also talk about a way to do this kind of "path curve" type of animation in our VIP section videos, so when you get the chance, you might want to check those out as welluser added image
