texture troubles

does anyone know why sometimes i cannot load my textures into maya. i mostly use jpg's, but when i try to load it says it could not convert to IFF. can anyone help?

.tga is probably the most reliable format to use.

I usually use .tga's and .jpg's. Like Mike said, targas are reliable and are good if you need transparencies in your image b/c it uses alpha channels. If it's a jpg you're using, make sure it's not a progressive jpg.
