Paint and shadows

Im starting on my first full scene but i think im gonna run into a big problem. Im drawing a house with big ray traced windows and using maya paint to make tree's.....see the problem? the trees wont cast shadows with ray trace and the windows wont let light shine through with Dmap. anyone got a work around? i tried using 2 lights (one right over the other) but the raytrace gets messed up really badly, the glass casts a shadow. user added image

You can make the glass not cast shadows in it's Render Stats attributes

Well ... with the tree problem you could map the lights with a leaf texture. That way the light will appear to have gone trough some trees ..

About the window, well, I haven´t done any raytracing renders so I guess I don´t know ...

Hope it helps ... Good luck!
