drill through

hello. I attached a picture of what I want to do. please help me with this simple maya question: how do I do, that you can see through the cube, exactly through the cylinder, I marked with red what I mean. Please help.

Booleans is probably what you want, but it's not going to be the cleanest method.

For what you're doing, booleans is probably the fastest way. At the moment, I can't think of another way to do it…

yes I used all 3 tools, intersection, difference and union. it works with union but very very poor. I attached an image. i really need a clean clean cut please user added image

You're going to have to bump the geometry up some. Then, smooth it out and see if it works.

i have a better idea. i have made a plane that looks like in the attachment. how can i make the plane 3d ? i mean that it becomes a cube with a hole in it ?

Try selecting the faces and extruding.

Here's a cube with boolean. It only took 1 minute to do. Just make cube, then cylinder, then select cube first, then cylinder and do boolean difference.
