newbie in the house

Hello guys, I have just started using maya, so I came here for some help and suggestions on what to start with first and how to do it.

start with the basics.
learn the tool box, shortcut key channel box etc
this way when u r doing a tut u do not get lost or confused when the author uses a tool u have never seen or dunno where it is.
then try to focus on a specific topic instead of doing too many things at once; i.e. modeling, dynamics,animation,rendering/lighting
