Its all Messed up

Hi um I am really confused because when I try to Bevel Maya Text to help make it's edges look a little sharper this wierd jetting out happens(see pic) Plus I must have accidently Turned on a feature that I don't want because when I use either the scale rotate and transform tools I can't select any other pieces of geometry. no matter where I click it either scales transforms or rotates the allready clicked object Any Help would be most Appreciated

If you can't select an object you may have accidentally changes the display attribute to R (reference) or T (template). If you turn either one of these on, you won't be able to do anything to the object.

About the vertice that is jumping out. I have no idea what that is but you might be able to select it and manually move it back into position.

I have tried manually selecting the vertices and that was a no go.

As far as selecting goes I can select the objects. I just can't select "new" Objects when I have the scale, rotate, or transform tools activated.
