This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

The number of polygons is not the issue when rendering. (And 300k is nothing) It's the materials and effects that takes time.

i imagine that's when people are talking about games where optimizing models is important.

thanks for the kind comments here...and just for the record this car is about 5 million tris when smoothed and this render took 3+ hours to complete. I have not planned an animation for this cause it will just make my pc die.

after hundreds of test renders heres something new i was trying to light this thing just with lights and no light planes, which proved to be a bit difficult, i like the light on the glass but it gave some weird looking reflections on the trunk area...but im here to get some fresh eyes on this so crit away.

it might just be the fact that i just woke up but something about the reflections makes the whole thing look bumpy to me :S

haha

another thing i just noticed, i dont know if it's just the render or the model but above the rear wheel arch where that little sticky-outy part meets the body the top of that sticky-out part looks really straight to me instead of curved

i found a very weird thing for those who use maya im not sure if it is the same in other apps, but when i use the mitchell filter the AA looks much smoother than using lanzcos filter, anyway this project is getting to the end i know ive probably said this so many times but this time its true as far as textures im almost done with that i just have to texture the tachometer and im done and ill probably model a scene for final renders. another render ready for some crits.
