August Challenge - 3Demon - Noobie

Hello everyone, I just recently got into using Maya and so far I'm loving it. I haven't modelled a single thing in it yet but hopefully this site changes that. Oh, and I love the site......

As for the challenge,
I'll be glad to give it a go............sorta............I hope........user added image

Anyways, this is what I plan.
I want to do a sort of industrial, advanced, chem lab sorta feel.

*Hydro plant & Chem Lab - Incorporating these might prove to be a challenge in itself......

These should include enough stuff to blow up, maybe, probably not. user added image

yeah that hand is a nice touch, maybe some nice blood stains around it on the table and that could be nice

That's a great start. Perhaps make the hand a bit bigger so it matches to the other things, plus puts it more in focus. Good stuff.

Pure_Morning: I was thinking of doing that, now I just have to figure out how...

Witchy: Thanks, and you're right. I think I'll move the hand entirely and make it a little bigger.

Hopefully I can do more tonight, but I should probably do my other work first. Whenever I start Maya up time itself seems to freakishly disappear... user added image

I think I'll do all my work now and spend the rest of the night on this user added image

looks great! and welcome to SM ( the best forum on the webuser added image)
t he scene is looking very nice indeed. The one bit of crit I can see is your size relations (but that was just mentioneduser added image) that bit of equiptment on the left, is looking like a huge police light... it just needs some smaller details like the tubes you have going into it to make it fit into the scene.
great chrome texture man! and mighty nice flame too user added image how did you do the flame BTW?
...you wont be a noob for long user added image

Howard, That's my police light user added image

It's supposed to be a specimen tank, it just needs a lot more work. user added image

As for the flame effect, it's just a dynamic flame effect. It comes with Maya 3 Unlimited, I'm not sure if it's in the complete or unlimited of the other versions.

Either way, this is the standard effect you get with it. You can get a lot of variety if you play with the settings. user added image
