Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Doing it just for fun, gonna put in my other project were I'm modeling my living room.

No animation planned, since these pics took between 20-80 minutes to render it would take too long to render an animation. And a guitar isn't the most obvious object to animate...

Wow! All I can say is it looks photo real. I don't know enough about guitars to say if anything is off, but to me, this thing looks damn good!

I'm done with this model I think. Just gonna try some different renders to get one I'm satisfied with.

Great job man, I like the last render the best, but i think it would look better with a lighter backdrop so there is some contrast.

Here's another one with an outdoor lighting. However there seems to be some kind of bug in the renderer since my chrome material get some totally black areas. They can be seen in all images if you look closely. In this render they really stand out though, so have to fiddle with that material a bit before next render.

Grats

I like the first renders you did, but the others where very well as well !
really good job.

But I'm quite curious about how you made the chrome shader for the knobs and the "stick" (don't know whats in called in English, but i do play guitar myself)

what are your maxwell material settings for the chrome?

I wouldn't use the complete IOR file for it, simply a material with reflectivity 0 at 220 220 220, reflectivity 90 at 256 256 256, one layer, nd at like 5, abbe at default, I think that would make for a good chrome mat

hope that helped

Ok, call me stupid, but I was looking at those pics and scrolling down to the bottom of the page thinking "I wish that guy would stop posting references and just model the damn thing". Then I realised it was what you had modelled!
My bad, but that's just too cool.

I have a cheap Strat and an Ibanez, would be really cool to see an Ibanez modelled user added image

the guitar..? WOW!! is that reflection on the table OK or is it just the perspective, looks alitle out of place, but i am probably wrong, very picky i am, but mistakes are wonderful and so is critisism, without them we can not learn user added image but wow again!
