Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

I got a book for christmas called The animator's surival kit by Richard Williams (animation director for Who Framed Roger Rabbit) and although I haven't read that much, it looks really interesting, helpful, with simple explanations and loads of advice. (all on traditional animation, mostly character stuff)

Short answer, yes there are, but this is the only one I can recommend so far user added image

Haha, good to know it's highly considered. I'm really looking forward to delving into it more.

Great book. He also attended my high school, woo!

Another great resource is from Jason Ryan, Supervising animator at Dreamworks. https://www.jasonryananimation.com/ While the end of his demos always ends with 3d, he blocks out everything in 2d first. He had a lot of great 2d tutorials, but they seem to be down now. I'll give him a shout and see if they're still available.

As I said, he uses 2d to block out his shots, before doing it in 3d. A great workflow.
