Gster123 - Jan/Feb

Well got an Idea, the concept title is "Death's Around the Corner".

Basicaly I'm going to make a scene of the corner of a building with nothing on one corner and the Grim Reaper, scythe and all round the other.

Hopefully make a concept/start soon.

Just put together a simple premise for the scene with primitave shapes, just to get the idea across, and attemt to set up a pose for him.

Created the wall(s) for the basic set up for the scene.

Now need to go and get some reference of the grim reaper, thinking of getting my bath robe on and taking some pics for some reference on the cloak! LOL

Think the cloak might need to have a pass in Zbrush to get the details, but i'm gonna be keeping an eye on the overall filesize of the scene

Also need to model a skull and skeletal hands and forearms.

I see where you are going with this pal...

I wonder where this idea spawned from. Insperation from the Freaky Low Poly? :p

Great Idea

Ha ha, It didnt really but when I was putting the concept scene together I realised that it looked like it! LOL

I was thinking of doing something influenced by Clive Barkers "Tortured Souls" (so your kinda right with the SPAWNed quote) but I couldent twist my mind enough to do it justice (if you've seen them you'll know what I mean!) and as I was cleaning up I picked up a harry potter book and thought of doing kind of a dumbledore/discworld type of wizard, then fell on the idea of death and the grim reaper which I thought I could put my own take on without treading on other peoples toes so to speak, as per what Mike said.

Well thats the background to the Idea LOL!

nice idea and it looks like you made a good start mate!

What sort of pose are you planning for the grim reaper? it might be cool to have him leaning on the wall peering around the corner, looking for his next victim.

Cheers Guys.

Was thinking of a similar pose, might have him with one hand on the corner of the wall getting ready to move round.

Need to get my digital camera and my bath robe and try out some poses before I start modeling the body

Made a start on the skull.

Got to thank Jay for giving me some great reference.

Think i'm gonna keep this level of detail untill I get the rest of the model made up and posed and see what the filesize is as I'm a bit worried that I might go over it (only time will tell though) and i'm not too sure yet what you'll be ableto see of the skull when hes got his cloak on.

Any who heres the pic, I'm trying to get the skull looking a bit "mean", frowning in a way.

Any crits or comments appreciated.

Cheers

Steve

Made a start on the jaw, now need some teeth and that should be the basis of all the skeleton parts that I need.

Adjusted the overall scale and size of the skull as it was a tad long (even though it meets up with my reference)

Also added some teeth and an eye so I can direct his attention when he's posed.

Any crits or comments?

looking very cool. shorter looks much better than longer.

in fact he looks like skeletor from the new adventurs of heman (he was very cartoony in that series because they gave him eyes).

Any ideas on how to keep the parts togeather if you win the prize
(you know the whole one mesh thing)
I was going to do a warrior skeleton sat on a chair but could not think on how it would all keep togeather.

Maybe look at the family guys "death" toy, though I`m not sure if that had a skull ??? - but maybe worth a look.
