Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Really nice. Nice anim vid too. I had a quick Google to see the "9 color christen eagle pattern"... I couldn't see any decals you could trace, but the pattern, while really nice, isn't too complex. You shouldn't have too much of a problem replicating it.

Nice work.

thanks M.

Yeah I can whip the vector art for the 9 color pattern in illustrator. Just need to get some personal stuff done and then I am on to it.

Thank you Paldav.

I updated the colors for the air force version and added a cockpit tub so you can't see the textures on the inside.

I updated them on the previous page as well by accident.

The bottom edge of the fuselage of Christen Eagle II is very tight. My model was not and as much as I kept telling myself it looked better more rounded it was just not an accurate representation of the actual airplane so I tightened the edge.

Although this caused me to have to adjust a lot of other components I will sleep better knowing the model is a more faithful representation of the real plane.

Thanks Bullet.

I added some pin striping and changed the size of some of the text. I think the paint layer for this version is pretty much done.

Going to work on the 9 color eagle II paint scheme next.

Thanks guys,

I think the latest renders are looking pretty good. I would turn on shadows but I can't seem to get soft edges with mental ray so I just kept ray traced shadows off.

I would like to add a panel line layer. I would also like to add some kind of displacement to simulate the fabric sag between the wing ribs.

I am in the process of drawing up the actual 9-color christen eagle II paint scheme on my plane. So I will have some more renders with a different paint scheme soon.
