I don't know about Max, but I think there is a version for Maya 5, I just don't have it.

Maya dont have CPS included. Maya has something that looks like CPS called Smooth Proxy, but IMHO not as good as the real CPS.

You can download the latest free version of CPS, and it works perfectly with Maya 5
