Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

basic question but...

hello all,

i have created the attached logo for my website www.shellsuitzombie.co.uk, and have been following a youtube '3d text' tutorial to try and fillit in. I have run across a couple of problems.

1. When i convert nurbs to polys it looks mega crap but i don't know whether i can ever convert it back...

2. when i try and select border edge on the lettering it selects both front and back edges then balls's up when i fill hole.

forgive me for being such a n00b/green but... well i am one.

why do you want to convert to polys?
...you could just increase the number of spans per what ever it says. That will retain the curvature of the nurbs when you convert.

i like the name of your site, whats it all about?

i was following this tutorial
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJwNOOmkZuU

I don't know much at all about maya but this tutorial in theory does exactly what i want to do - create a 3d version of the logo - but i get stuck on the select border edge tool bit. the orange line selects more than the amount of surface i want. then it does this.

I don't know if im explaining myself very well, if you know of a better way to do all this i would love to know it.

SSZ is a site (and soon to be print mag) aimed at creating a dialogue between industry professionals and students/graduates in the arts, mainly design. glad you like the name, its a bit different!

sorry i got a call

i hope this is what you were after.

i looked at your poly version and your problem was the you had a seam at the bottom of the S. So i closed that off and your cooking with gas...

the one thing that i did was bevel plus on the curves... much quicker.
