Polygon Surface Anomolies

Tries posting this in poly's section. See if I can get a response here....

When I create geometry on a polygon model, then soften the normals, I get surface anomolies. I've never figured out what causes them or how to fix them. Can someone help me please.

try experimenting with the soften/harden edges options.
