Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

so here's the update... finished this hell of a building.. well. it aint 100% done, needs few more parts on the top, and it;s shape will be more defined when i add cable-car and a zeppelin, but here it is for now:

First render without water, raytracer cant do my reflections any more... i'll have to find a better solution... I have few good tips from Goxymaster, i'll try to fix it soon:

On this render bricks aren't rendered because i had my proxy model visible user added image

And this is the explanation why i've been working on this all day, why Max crashed about 20 times because of lack of memory and why attaching 6000 primitives together took 45 minutes

Closeups:

Brick wall down bellow:

And helium container on the top user added image

Detailed as usual user added image i have 6000 rivets on it, and i need to convert them all to 1 object instead of 6000... it took 45 minutes user added image

But it's fine now user added image user added image

Now on to the next part - the Zepp user added image

the modeling for this entire project has been absolutely sickening... i can only hope that the speculation that a second party (in the competition) takes over for the texturing in the second portion was misleading, because i know (even though i'm not a part of this competition) that i would NEVER want to take on your monstrous perfection of a model (oh hell, ENTIRE SCENE!!!) as a way to be graded for a prize... no offense, it is definitely awe-inspiring, but damn man... the details alone would cause even the absolute pros from the forum to tremble (or even perhaps faint?) at the magnitude of work they have before them.

either way though, an awesome job thus far, and i can't wait to see more.

(oh, and yay 1000 posts for meeeeeeeeeeee! *grin*)
