Viewport goes white

When ever I go into my channell box on maya 7, my viewport turns white until I click back in the view. How do I prevent my viewport from going white?

It goes white when Im either not in the viewport, or I clicked on another view.

could be that you need to update or reinstall your graphic drivers

My driver is updated, but it cant be the graphics card because it never did this in maya 8.5.

then its probably a bug that never got addressed I dunno. when i had maya veiwport issues w/ xp x64, reinstalling drivers helped sometimes. but since the vista switch those are gone.

Darn, I reinstalled drivers (Im on an x64 machine too)
but that didnt help. Is it possibly because my Vista OS is a 32?
I stupidly got the 32 instead of the 64, because my machine is x64.

it shouldnt be a problem running a 32bit version of maya on a 64bit machine, but of course the 32 bit OS cant make full use of your machine's power.

it could be something stupid like having to run maya in a windows 2000 compatible mode... cause this problem used to affect maya in xp but while rendering... the whole interface would turn white til it was done rendering - and i believe the solution was something similar to running maya in windows 2000 or NT compatible mode, but i can't remember... do a google search on something like that.
