Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

The image at the top of page 3 of this thread is the "Hero" shot and I have 8 different camera shots saved already but want a camera pan though just for my show reel.

Started the texturing of the cafe today.

I would ease the movement of the camera quite a bit, its very fast at the start.

OK had alot of rendering problems yesta but sorted most of them out now but now I have some new texture problem - but not too worried about that. Any way here`s what I got ..

1)

2)

6)

What I need to do now is pick one of the above images and get that one right first then come back to the others.

Just don`t know which one to pick.

As for the texturing I know the following problems

1) road too reflective - its because I have two one dry one wet and some how the wet one has moved up above the dry, you`re only supposed to see a little bit of wetness.

2) street lights and rails shadder looks matted out - just wrong settings.

3) sky scrappers bump map to high.

4) Tree leaves alpha did not work - no idea why they are there and don`t like one of the color leaves.

5) buildings are too grey - not textured yet.

Looking nice Tweetytunes, good luck with the rest of it! I know you're going to sort out the wet thing etc, so this isn't a crit, just wanted to say how freaky in the bottom pic the reflection of the building in the road is, looks almost ghostly as there's only part of the building in it mixed with the reflection of the barriers on the pavement, strange.... Like it's only reflecting the bumpmap. Anyhow, good luck with the rest of it, look forward to seeing the end results!

Why are you making the road wet? It looks like its a nice day, you would have to "wet everything up", personally I would just have it dry.

The colours also look a tad too saturated, but that can be an easy PS fix.

I was going (and still might) make it a rainy day as I live in the uk - its what I have grown used to. I think the saturation is because of the sun and sky settings, but will be scrapping them once the texturing is done.

i'd say go with 1 or 4

2 too looks too empty, being a small portion of your city it also looks like it should have more of what you have

3 looks ok but i don't like the angle... it looks too cut off

5 looks ok as well, but you can see the emptiness on the left and the trees take up all the room in the render (exaggeration)

6 looks ok, but you can see the emptiness on the left and it's too big

1 and 4 look the more broken up than the rest, not too much of one colour in one area

I like 4 or 6 the most to be honest - with six I can always move the camera slightly.
