Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

adding handles to a vase (updated w/ tricky continuity question)

Sorry for the simple question but I'm feeling pretty new to this stuff.

I'm modeling a simple claypot thing and I'm wondering about the best way to do the handles for good surface continuity. The model is nurbs so far.

Thanks in advance,
Aaron

one way is to model the handels seperately and use a circular fillet to create a "blend" piece of geometry between them, but it can be a little hairy.

I don't think I would recomend stitching in this case, but I suppose it is possible.

Ok, here's an image of where the model stands now. I've been told this is unacceptable for textureing, so now I've got to figure out a way to make it continuous with the rest of the vase. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated user added image

I would try the socking method then stitch them together.

detach the handle into 4 peices around the circumfrence then make a hole in the vase and blend them together.

I wish I could be more specific. check
