Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Ah, I see.... cool. Thought you were finishing up there.

So, you're going to texture yours? I wasn't really going to bother... being a modeling comp and all user added image

not so much texture - more bump map - which in a way mean texturing as I`ll have to set up the uv`s.

OK went way off on one and built the whole background. All the lighting I sorted out is now out the window and now back to work on the character - I have a few ideas - none Mayaniac have picked from my mind as of yet (errr).

So here is the final set up for the background - as you can see the skeleton is guarding a coffin - I have a story behind it but I`ll save that for the end of the battle.

After taking in account the words of daverave I reworked the skull - ALOT. Poly count almost 300% more but it is a much better shape now, just need to do the jaw

Done skull - on with reworking the helmet.

ColdWave
Yes and no - the challenge is for just the model, but I want to make this a finished piece so there will be textures. But for now I want some bump mapping going on so I am going to have to UV map this bugger.

First pass with the helmet and I`m pretty pleased with it.

Added some ageing to it but not a full old green to the bronze just yet as I don`t want it to look as if its present day, but don`t want to look as if he dies a week ago ivar.
Let me know what you think.

For final images I might just take the colour out - we see as we go.

Hi tweetytunes
I think the helmet looks great the texture has realy brought it to life, Your skull is looking great but maybe the chin could be moved into line with the jaw...............dave

OK Almost done - just a little to do like the weapon and some other bits and bobs - but want to get him in the final pose now.

Playing around with 3 ideas - not sure which one yet but thinking num 3 at mo.

user added image

The first - him screaming at the intruder.
1) Missing weapon
2) Feet in floor - opps
3) Needs strap for shield
4) Glowing eyes - to give undead under spell look

user added image

The Second - Resting on seat (much more like ref)
1) Again weapon missing - possibly on table
2) Hand would be placed on chair
3) Head angle aimed down alittle more so looks like dead/sleeping

user added image

The final - Squatted down attack stance

1) Missing weapon
2) Feet floating above floor this time - opps again
3) Needs strap for shield
4) Glowing eyes - to give undead under spell look and head turned towards camera.

Once skeleton is sorted will redo background placements and light. Plz note - not final camera angles

Very nice. I like the latest pose and angle.

Like I said in another post I just moved house, i wasn't expecting it to happen until the end of this month, but I'm going to try and get my comp up and running so i can finish it on time.... I'm on my parents comps right now if you're wondering.

Nice work man!
