celeb_head

I started a new head yesterday. my goal is to - for the first time - create something which can be critically compared to reality. the basic headshape caused me no problems but now when it comes to making the model recognizable I got stuck somehow. woman of my choice here is bonny miss Jennifer Connelly.

any crits and comments are very welcome!

Create a new camera and project the image across the model at the same angle so you can see the contours of the face and move whats necessary. It works...user added image

I just don´t get it. whatever I´m fiddling around with the imageplane and the camera - the image plane doesn´t show up in the reference camera. but I can see it in all other cameras - even when moving around the ref cam the image plane moves around in the persp view. I´m not used to imageplanes cause I never needed them. what am I doing wrong?

I cannot tell what the problem was, but after creating a new clear scene it suddenly worked. so I simply imported the head there.

Cool

Perhaps you were a little too eager and missed something the first time.

hm.. tweaking this way isn´t so easy. whatever view I use for reshaping it looks like crap in the perspective view then. but I keep on trying. here are 2 composited pics, one each is done with hardmix option in PS. and I think the contours keep approximating her face slowly but surely.

Dude

I would say her face is too narrow and a little too defined, I think you shouldsoften the cheeks too.

Cheers

I´ll try strechin it. btw I know now what the refCam prob was. I hadn´t checked CAMERAS in the SHOW dialog.

does anyone know how to get rid of the prefix added to the hierarchy when importing stuff? maya does not rename text strings containing ":"
