Divx, Xvid and Maya

Hi all, im new to this site and maya and have a question about

avi rendering. I've looked all over this site, used the fourms

search engine, and many other site's and still haven't found it.

I was wondering if there is anyway to access codec outside of

the maya prog and or import them into maya 4.5 to use, such as

divx or xvid instead of rendering as a basic avi that maya use's

that seems to be slow with very large file sizes and very choppy

in any res above 320x240. I understand you can save as other

format's that seem better such as targa and create a avi and use

another program to convert the format but just want to cut those

extra step's out if possible.

Btw great site and community you guy's / girl's have here.

I just render in avi and use a program called tmpgenc to convert to mpeg. I think its legal. If I find out it is not, Ill have to buy a program to do the same thing.
