Stratocaster

I've just seen this great model of a Stratocaster by Philip Meyer over on simply lightwave. For anyone who has got Lightwave he's just finishing a video tutorial on it. Any way i don't own a legal version of lightwave so I thought I’d see if I could recreate the same results in Maya. I don't know if I can post this image as it's not mine but if i can't just delete it. Here is the model by Philip Meyer.

cool, I used to own one of those. black-white stratocaster squire (the cheap oneuser added image)

sure hope your model becomes as nice as the one from Meyer.

why not do a different guitar (there's quite a few strats out there) i recommend a jaguar or something like that (only cause that's what I have user added image)

it's a good start on the model though, texturing will be a very good excercise for you trying to get that laquered look right will be pretty hard

I want to do this one so I can see how close I can get my model using Maya. However once I’ve finished it I’ll do a different one, probably a Parker Fly or maybe your Jaguar.

yeah that would be cool, i can give you loads of reference photos and measurements etc. Mine's a limited edition black, white and gold one user added image only 250 in extistence user added image

If you could give me some reference photos and measurements i'll do it alongside the strat. I've just had a go at starting the Jaguar but it still needs some modifications reference photos would help.

I don't actually know what this bit is called but I’ve done it (I think it’s called a scratch plate but I’m not sure).

I think I’ve done enough modelling for today between the strat and the hanger for my spacecraft animation, and I’ll carry on with it tomorrow. Just in case anyone wants to know it's polys.

I don't like working with NURBS as i don't think you have as much control when you wan tot modify it but that's probably just becuase i don't know how.
