Split/Detach Polygons!!! :) :) :): )

I want to "cut" polygons in maya, i split the faces with the cut faces tool, and now i want to cut them so they are separate nodes... any1 know any command to do that? i want something like the NURBS "detach surfaces" command! thanx!! user added image

if I understand you correctly, you'll want use EXTRACT under the EDIT POLY menu

select the faces you want seperated and go to extract as said above.

yeah, but that doesn't make them 2 separate surfaces... if i click one, both objects select... :headbang:

You need to check the SEPARATE EXTRACTED FACES box in the EXTRACT options. The faces will then be a separate object.

yeah but then each face will be independent, i want them grouped... so i just went Polygons -> combine and then merged all the vertices... thanks anyways!!! :attn: :attn: user added image
