This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Transparency map doesn't make every white part transparent

So im creating an earth in maya, but I can't seem to get the transparency texture for my clouds to work correctly, I have a cloud texture, I use it as a diffuse for the cloud sphere, I plug the same cloud file into a reverse node, then the reverse node to a luminance node, which I then plug into the transparency channel for that material. Should work fine, right. Nope. I'll provide a few images so you can fully understand my problem here. If I just use the cloud texture without any transparency all the clouds will be there, as it should be.

Realised that it would've been easier just to plug the file>reverse>refraction color. That worked. So confused why the guy in the tutorial wanted to do it that way (as it is on the image) ..
