Default Losing Parent Constrain

Hello

I'm fairly new to animation in Maya. I've made a character set from a mesh rigged with joints and IK handles, as well as two shoulderpads parented to their respective arms. The problem is that I occasionally lose that constraint. I don't know why it happens and it seems rather arbitrary to me. Does anyone know what could be happening?

Friendly regards
Lukas
