In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Ball Scenery

This is my first project done completely in Maya, all my other submissions here were just created in other programs and rendered in maya or such.

I needed a wallpaper for my computer and I was playing with my chinese iron balls and got inspired. This picture looks alright, but it looks alot better full size on my dual monitors!!

Hope you guys enjoy simple picturesuser added image

are you talking about those ball things that relax you..? They make noises, that trigger something in the human brain...

Very nice. I love those balls. They do have a calming effect.

That's Cool. I Like!

Did you use After Effects for the sparks? Or are they just polys?

ok, anywho, to your question, just made transperency shader(for the 2 ones above this) made a sphere(of course) then made use of the lightning in Maya, works great as u can see, i used it for podracer, like the way he used it though too.

Great work, abstract art, kinda storta ish

to create lightning all you have to do is select two objects, in my case two small spheres, and hit the lightning button. then i simply placed the small set of balls inside a big ball with a transparent shader. just play around with the effects for awhile, it can become quite amusing
