Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Hi elephantinc, loving the idea for your poster!
Just wanted to say I think the glow is better, but the blue part of it around the middle is still a little to much in my opinion, before it was merging with the green and red so you all became one fuzz, now that's not happening but it's still the focus of attention meaning when you look at the whole picture that "pulls" your eyes towards it and detracts from the rest, if you can get it to the same kind of level as the blue it'll look perfect.
Apart from that it's all looking great!

I wish I could do an animation, not a still cos then the light spins round (and all the other lights do a variety of different patterns) so then the blue is a little more subtle because you cant see it most of the time. The main problem with this kind of glow is that you cant change each glow settings individually, its all controlled by 1 node so I guess ill have to change the colour
I will post a full size new render tonight but I probably wont have time to change the poster

I started on a little animation
Im using a expression to make the spaceship rotate but I also want to attach it to a curve, yet it says I cant because rotateY already has another influance. Is there anyway I can achieve this?

Ive started on the good guys ship, the basic idea is that its a battleship that can also go in space
I can almost guarantee that I wont finish this in time, due to exams. Although I wont want to revise 15 hours a day straight so you never know! I still probably wont get to work it into the main piece well in time if i do finish it.

I want to make it a lot less B movie and have a lot more detail

model looks too dark against the dark background.., even B grade movies were aware of their colour palettes and contrast.., id be giving some light to the model so it stands out from th background and not look just a 2D paste

great idea though

take it easy and life will be easy

ok im not really ready to post this yet, havent had much time, but im not really sure what to do with this

I cant get the main turret to look right, I dont want it to be the same as the others, it needs to look a lot more powerful but not OTT, what do you think I should do with it

make it less joystick-like

by the looks of things your cannons can't aim up and are restricted to fire out on the z-plane (for lack of better words)

you could go for something of the likes that tweety did, take a look at his cannons, they can fire at a uh... diverse range of angles

unless you want something different, in which case the joystick cannons work

sorry, only calling them joystick cannons because the connection between the barrels and turret looks like a joy stick of some sort

I'm inclined to agree with Chirone, they don't look very versatile, maybe a "ball and socket" type base so that they can swivel in all directions?
