object distribution on a surface

Hello,

I recently switch from Cinema 4d to Maya, so far so good!
I'm currently modeling a landscape with rocks, and I would like to find a solution to spread little rocks on a mesh. I'm looking for a equivalent of the C4d 's cloner in "object mode", Is there a way in Maya to distribute some poly objects on a surface easily and efficiently?
Thanks
