you need to load the .obj exporter plugin... Under Windows > Settings and Preferences > Plugin Manager.

Find the objexport plugin and load it.

For Max, you'll obviously need the .obj importer.

On a related question: Is there a .obj exporter that will export bones, contraints, textures, groups, etc, etc? I know of that polytrans but thats too expensive... Its not worth paying hundreds for a few model exports!
The groups option on export doesnt seem to work, because it doesnt export any groups... whats that about?
