Texture won't show up

I am getting some problems with the 3D paint tool. Yesterday, I used it to paint a texture onto a logo. Today, I can't get that texture to appear on the logo. I can see the texture in the Hypershade and when I render the scene. Could somebody tell me please how I can get it to show up in the scene view so I can modify it? Thanks.

make sure that textures are visible. Press the 6 key on the keypad with your scene view active.

I tried that, but it won't work.

I also tried to use the eyedropper tool on the surface, hoping to activate the texture somehow, but then Maya crashed on me.

perhaps try making a new material and applying the texture to it for the object.
