Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Sorry Brian, i didn't save a pic of the front bumper before convert, maybe when i do the door or the sides skirt, i can save a pic of it before and after convert, but here is what i added, they're not connected becoz i start off from just thinking of trying to sudD and as it looks pretty good to me so far, i just continue doing it, so yeah..

thought that I would let you know that to go back and forth between Sub and Poly, just go to the convert, sub to poly and Vice versa. To go back to your original poly count, make sure your options are set to Vertex. Don't be afraid to go back and forth, I do it all the time, to make sure things look ok. Try to keep it as low poly as you can b4 you convert to SUbdivisions or else you will get unwanted waves. Let me know if ya need anything, I still need to send you that scene file, sorry! I will try to do that by Wed. Thanks,
Brian

Well, it's ok Brian, take your time on whatever u are doing, i saw ur CRX, it looks great, love to see u modeling cars, well let me post this updated one first, then i will try to convert it back to poly and have u see it, but i think i already have a "high" poly coz i subdivided before converting it, oops, is that a problem? oh well, it's just a try, maybe i learn not to do it next time, i will keep trying to model some more cars, i would like to model all 3 generation of the MR2s first^_^ anyways, here is the update, i am sure that i did bad on the windows, roof, rear window..etc, all the top part of the car, but as i said, i am just trying, so yeah, btw thx Brian!

the mesh is looking good to got to subd. it looks though, that there are a few triangles. it is really ok to have triangles, but if you can avoid them just leave a area as low quad poly as possible. if you are going to end up with subd and tweak the car in subd level - and you have absolutely no choice, put in 5 sided polygons instead of 3 sided ones. performance-wise quads are much better though. and you should not smooth your mesh in poly before going subd - subd will do that automatically.

3sided and 5sided means how many sides a polygone has. the number of sides is the same number as the number of verts. a tri is 3 vert or 3 sided, a quad is 4 sided or 4 vert and a "pentagon" is 5 sided or 5 vert polygon.
