I know that aproximatly 100 people who would be interested in a Mental Ray Tutorial.
If you book it they will come
Specifically aimed at intermediate/advanced user
-How to setup custom mr shaders(MAYA_MRFM_SHOW_CUSTOM_SHADERS)
- Examples of where they can be used. (focus on this primarily)
-Attatched is a pic which will explain things a little better perhaps.
-You could discuss things like the dirtmap shader
-or how to transfer displacement from zbrush 2 into maya and use mental ray
to render the displacement. (Its so cool) z2 rocks !!
-Raytraced shadows, shadowmaps, depthmap shadows
-You could have one tutorial on how to set up a cornel box and
the lights and render diagnostics ... sampling quality , photons, translation ect
-Then have the second tutorial cover how to setup custom mr shaders and cover some off the principals of these shaders.
maya 6 has MR custom shaders installed as standard I am told.
-Then have a third and perhaps 4th tutorial to cover the other
materials or things like caustics perhaps...
If anyone can do this let me know and I will send all interested people
to this thread to voice their interest.
If simplymaya can produce a good tutorial/s giving usefull examples of where these 50+
shaders can be used it would do the job.
Not so hard is it ?? (jk)
Perhaps split them into 3 or 4 separate tutorials for 30 points each.
