Default X file check

X file check

I have a plugin for exporting .x files on Maya 5. would you tell me after I have exported the file into .X format, how can I check it see if it works? What software or loader do I need to download for checking my x files?

Sorry I cant help you, but I would like to know what .X files are for? Is it compression or something?
