Well heres how the render is done.
The material is just a simple lambert, but I added a little glow
Heres the setup. The plane is to bounce light.
The light is a point light with these settings.
Use ray trace shadows.
In mental ray setup.
Area light setup, which is below the mental ray setup.
Turn on FG > Final Gather rays to 500
Turn on GI > Global Illum Accuracy 271
Well that should do it
