This is one wild lookin' beast! It looks like from your reference that the ridges on the horns are regulated more toward the front edge and aren't quite as wide (side to side) as you've modeled them.

How come you haven't connected the horns and the head as one shape ?

Cali: I havent really given it much thought. Its obviously 2 very different materials (skin, horn) perhaps thats why user added image

you can apply two different shaders to selected faces in Maya user added image .. I just figured it would be easier to do the 3D paint / zbrushing if you are gonna do that if its one big object
