Default problem with dgs meterial juss black

i have followed 3 tutorials that use dgs and all of them have the same effect it tells ya to change the stuff i do it EXACTLY like them and all i get ie a black screen and the thing i used the meterial with is invisible or juss black WTF

how do i fix dis

ik looked in that thingy and i also get

Do you have lights in the scene? How many photons are you emitting? Are you using final gather? What are your sample min/max settings...

Sorry its tough to answer this question without seeing the scene. But trust me we have all been there (I know I have been there a million times)...
