Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

i made the lofted surface live by clicking on the little magnet at the top right hand corner of Maya (of course i selected the lofted surface first)

then i drew a curve on it with the CV curve tool

forgot to menton as soon as i hit 'brush to curve ' the ivy appeared on the curve.

so then i went to 'tubes' and from that drop down went to 'turbulance' and picked 'tree wind'.

then i went to
'flow animation' and checked the two boxes, 'stroke time' and the one below it.
i set the time from 0 -1000 (making sure my time slider went tha far)

the trees were also with turbulance and they swayed as the time slider moved across. i could of had them grow over time to, which i might do later and render it to see what it looks like but anyway, the last render looks something like this.

put the settings as 'directional' and messed with the life span and particle emission and 'number of per second' speeds that suited my needs.

changed the 'spread' to .4 in the channel box and the changed the particles from pionts to sprites.

the life span is random, between 100-50
