Default backface culling in maya 8

im running maya 8 and tried using backface culling. it took me a couple tries before maya activated backface culling. now im not able to turn it off. anyone heard of this problem?

try the preferences and the custom poly option both. check the help files on this for further reference

i learned that you have to be in object mode and have an object selected. not just a component. that's what i was doing wrong. you'd think this was obvious but...

hey, then we have both learnt something new.., I didn't know that either, yes I agree, it should be obvious.., I think there might be a couple of ways of doing this kind of thing. I have wondered why there are a number of 'back face culling' options.., one in preferances and one in custom poly display. I gather you are in 'custom poly display'

Default backface culling default in Maya 8.5

I have a similar problem, except its default in Maya 8.5 for me, I cant seem to turn the darn thing off!

mines greyed out too, maybe go to modify/custom attributes/polygons (if that exists in 8.5 too busy to look, gotta run)

where did you find your name?? interesting!? you like samurai..?? face to face, stand off.., its no longer used in Japan but is an old samurai word they used then.., like in the American westerns when they would stand off before a duel.., thats what the samurai did.., 'hanatsuki'
