Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Texturing without Photoshop?

Hey, I recently downloaded mayaPLE and checked out some of the tutorials for modeling and texturing. I checked the "door texturing" tutorial, where he uses photoshop for it:

My problem is that I dont have photoshop and I was wondering if its possible to add realistic textures and using UV's and such without it? Or do I have to go out, buy a copy- learn photoshop and then get into texturing? Cause I cant really texture too well if I use the "file feature" in texturing and add images, like for references on image planes.

Thanks in advance.

Class.

Any Image editing/creation will do.

Have a look for GIMP, its a free alternative to photoshop.
