Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Question about Vue

Hey guys,

Just need some info on Vue… is it used in games? I thought it was, but I'm not completely sure. I'm planning on learning it sometime, but I don't wanna waste my time learning something if I'm not going to use it.

I've literally never used it, but tbh I don't think games would need anywhere near the detail of the work produced in Vue, and if it did, it would be handled in a more traditional 3D package and done with normal, etc maps.

But like I mentioned I haven;t used it or researched it enough, but don't let that stop you from learning it, its a great piece of software.

Not too sure mate, its a great bit of kit, though lacking on some fronts. and you can always get the low poly stuff out of there and the corrisponding disps colours etcetc and get them into maya as obj's (or use the extreme plug in)

So all in all it might be a short cut really.

Are you referring to Vue D'esprite something? (I can never remember how they spell it.)

People use it for environments, like tropical islands in Pirates: Dead Man's Chest (I think). I don't think it has any use for games, the devs would probably buy or develop their own procedural code for generating trees rather than export them from Vue.

I would like to say that i have this software and it's gr8. I've learn some basics of it. So about the game industry it get's in my mind just one thing , you can make backgrounds with vue no need to model or paint anything just compose in vue it's fast and not so hard, and you will get a cool background for minutes.

Hmm… the only thing I think it would be used for in games would be cinematics. I don't know, I guess I'll figure out in the future. I'm too busy trying to learn ZB at the moment. user added image
