Mirror from point? Like AC or sketchup?

I did a search and after a reading pages and not finding the answer I figured I'd post. I' sure it has been asked before. How do I mirror an object from the center point of another? Example: Legs of a table from the center of the tabletop.

Snap the pivot of the legs to the centre of the table, duplicate, then scale to -1 across the axis you want to mirror on, freeze transformations then reverse normals.

Hold "d" to enter pivot move mode, and hold "v" for snap to vertex mode, then middle mouse button over the vert at the centre of the table,

cheers
