problems with attaching fur to a model

Well... when i try to attach fur to my dog model (using the simply maya dog model technique) , half of the fur on the dog is on the outside.. and the other half of the dog, has the fur on the inside. I'm guessing this happend due to something going wrong when duplicating one side. Can anybody here figure out how i can fix this? thanks.

I'm guessing here as I haven't played with fur much, but offhand I'm guessing it has something to do with the normals, if the model is a poly or surface direction if the model is a NURB. How did you mirror the model? Mirror geometry or Scaling it on a negative value? Scaling on a negative value can sometimes flip normals.

Hope I wrote something useful.

if it still did not work... go to subdiv surfaces -> texture -> automatic mapping...
