Angry video input help

hi all,
well i need abit of advise on what to do.. here is what happend..
i open maya and go to set up an image plane i select a video instead of and image and the hit ok then maya just closes instantly...everytime even when i just use a plane and use a
video as a texture ...need a little help

are you using the Movie texture node or File Texture node?

well im not sure in the textures box i click on file.and select the video

when you map the material's color attribute, the window opens that lets you choose from the procedural 2D and 3D textures, among which is the File selection. Also in this list is a Movie selection that is for animated textures using an .avi or something.

ok i just tried picking the movie button and it did the exactly the same thing...just closed straight away
